I have to agree with your point that salary is not what motivates employees. Although this may sound somewhat idealistic at first, it makes sense when you stop and consider it. Surely the majority of people would rather enjoy a positive working environment alongside like minded colleagues than be paid over the odds for a job that is unrewarding and stressful. People may be attracted to high salaries but will often only be prepared to take on a role for the long term if they experience a certain level of job satisfaction.
