You are welcome! I am glad you liked it.

Managing expectations is at the heart of 'exceeding expectations' and creating a word of mouth. Those who 'get it' do well.

Hi Chaitanya,

[quote]
In case you are unable to meet a commitment, the best way out is to own up to the shortfall. The thumb rule is: make a clean breast of the bad news as fast as you receive it; while delaying good news delivery till it actually happens. Both will prove your sensitivity to the customer.

couldn't agree more. I guess this is what most professinals fail at.
If a mediocre performance can perform this, then its better to hire him than the most sought after professional.

Nice post, well written
btw . thanks for dropping by at Orkut VA Hub

Matt, what a surprise! It is a co-incidence both of us have touched same topics in our latest posts. I am taking the liberty to copy relevant answer and a link to your post here:

[....] Do you have any advice to give those who are looking to start their own computer repair business?

I would tell them two things:

1-Really take care of your clients. Going the extra mile makes all the difference. It can seem hard to get new clients but it is even harder to keep them if you don’t take care of them. [....]

Full interview is here: http://www.yfncg.com/2008/09/02/taking-care-of-your-customers-an-interview-with-eric-hamm/

Very good post. I'm a firm believer in setting your customer's expectations and have blogged about the fact that it must be an integral part of your business model if you don't want to be bullied by customer expectations being to high or unrealistic.

I just posted an interview on my blog of a computer consultant who has made a successful living by making sure he constantly delivers above expectations for his customers...and because of that, they keep coming back to him.
